Description
Pinehurst has been hosting championships and offering memorable golf experiences since 1898. Golfers from Jack Nicklaus to Payne Stewart have become part of golf history here at one of America’s great golf courses and resorts. In 2014, Pinehurst added to its illustrious tournament history by hosting back to back U.S. Open Championships (Men’s & Women’s) for the first time ever. Pinehurst No. 2, among nine distinctive courses at the Resort, has been the backdrop for more single golf championships than any course in America. Originally designed by Donald Ross and opened in 1907, the course is has been widely recognized for some of the most complex greens in golf. A Coore & Crenshaw redesign began in 2010 to restore the course to Ross’ original vision, removing 35 acres of turf.
